I would be happy to help you make your own extracting tool. It is easy to make the extraction
tool, the insertion tool is too difficult for you to make.
I modify the Dorman 800-009 Disconnect tool to make it easier to pop onto the fuel line. See
the photo below.
I insert a sheet metal screw into a 1/4 “ fuel line and crimp the tubing to lock the screw.
The screw driver I buy from Harbor Freight, PITTSBURGH 16 In. Long Reach Demolition
Screwdriver Set, 2 Pc. It has the right weight to get the job done.
There are two locking pins in the receptacle in the fuel tank opposing each other. When you
slide in the tool, the collar will disengage the two pins in the receptacle and release the
fuel line. Since there is an opening (gap) in the disconnect tool, it might not disengage
one of the pins so rotate the tool a ¼ turn and reinsert disconnect tool.
